The
recordings were made and the pictures were taken by Stéphane Taccola at the
U.L.D
(long-stay department) of the Auban Moët d'Épernay hospital complex, in Marne,
France, between may 1999 and august 2000.
Mum
suffered from
Alzheimer's
disease for seven years.
She was admitted to the hospital's "long-stay department" on october
15th 1998. She passed away there on september 26th 2001.
One can compare the first two pictures, which were taken five months apart. One
can see that Mum's condition improved a lot. This happened thanks to the
competent team who takes care of the patients of the department.
Let's praise their conscientiousness and efficiency. This team is made up of
nurses, nursing auxiliaries and people employed thanks to the 'Contrat Emploi
Solidarité' programme, which offers part-time work for the long-term unemployed.
Let's also thank and congratulate Dad,
who visited his wife everyday. He relieved the staff of some duties and gave Mum
moments of happiness and joy.
Of course, I dedicate this gallery to my parents.

Many of you may wonder why such a website exists. To understand, we must go back to the beginning of my mother's hospitalization : I photographeed mummy in order to have memories from her because we knew that one day or another this illness would carry her off. In june 1999, I already had some photos. I scanned then in order to mail them to Roger and I posted them on the Web. I added a background, music and frames in order to be easier to see. The website developed quickly : it became a means for remote family to know how mummy's health was. You can see the following steps...
Don't hesitate to click the blue links : you may be surprised.
